The Village Intranet

A private platform that will serve as the operational backbone of the village, facilitating organization, decision-making, and social interaction while aligning with the village’s core values of sustainability, autonomy, and decentralization. The intranet will integrate a variety of tools and technologies to ensure transparent, efficient governance and smooth village operations.

Some of those features include: online decision-making, wage-setting, task selection, planning & scheduling, listings (job, auditions, classes), ordering (food, supplies, rides), news & social interaction, wish-lists.

Decision-making

Village decisions will be initiated through online voting, ensuring everyone has a voice in shaping village life. In some cases, if the outcome of the online vote is not unanimous, it moves to discussion in the next meeting, where adaptations will be made until everyone is satisfied with the outcome.

When a situation calls for a collective decision, the matter will be discussed until the decision is unanimous. Given enough time, patience, and imagination… a reasonable compromise can be reached in any situation… one that all involved can agree is fair.

In the event there is that one person that disagrees simply for the sake of being difficult, for example, then they will be required to elaborate on their reasoning. If they cannot, they will then be required to explain why they wish to create friction. Objections must be accompanied with potential solutions.

All will be encouraged to speak freely and honestly, regardless of how they feel about how they feel (i.e., “this might be a dumb question, but…”). This will make things far more efficient, and ensure that everyone is truly satisfied with the results of the discussion.

Blockchain-Based Governance

To ensure transparency and fairness, voting will be conducted via blockchain-based governance systems using smart contracts. This will ensure every vote is publicly verifiable while maintaining voter anonymity.

Supermajority for Low-Stakes Decisions

While most decisions will strive for consensus, for lower-stakes items, the community will vote on which decisions may utilize supermajority rules (e.g., 80%) and the exact percentage for each case. This reduces bottlenecks in decision-making while preserving collective input for high-impact decisions.

Crypto-Token Voting

Voting will be facilitated using a token-based system. Each villager will be allocated one token, which they will send to the address corresponding to their choice. In return, the village will provide a reasonable amount of Circuitree currency to each participant, rewarding civic engagement.

Planning and Scheduling

The intranet will feature an Integrated Scheduling App to coordinate village activities, including tasks, events, and projects

Shared Village Resources: Residents will be able to book shared spaces such as art studios, performance areas, or workshops through this scheduling system, ensuring fair access to resources.

Skill Sharing Platform

A space where residents can offer classes, workshops, or one-on-one learning in exchange for Circuitree or other benefits.

Social Interaction

A closed-loop social network will be developed exclusively for village residents. This platform will facilitate community-building while integrating content moderation features to ensure respectful dialogue.

Village & Global News

Village news, international news, tech news, maybe even a bit of entertainment news… Though our location will be remote, thanks to technology, we won’t have to detach entirely from the rest of the world (unless we want to).

The news sources that will be displayed on the private site will be decided upon as a group and added to if necessary (ie, when new sources emerge).

Listings

The Listings section will feature classified ads for jobs, auditions, classes, and more.

Automated Listings System: A structured, automated listings system will ensure that tasks and jobs are categorized correctly, making it easy for residents to navigate and apply.
Ratings & Reviews for Classes/Tasks: Residents will be able to leave anonymous feedback on completed jobs or attended classes. This feedback mechanism will encourage quality, professionalism, and continuous improvement.

Auditions

Auditions for project positions, which will be conducted by the creator that posted the listing. Guidelines will be provided for what information needs to be included in the listing.

Classes

Classes taught by residents and scheduled non-resident instructors. Guidelines will be provided for what information needs to be included in the listing.

Miscellaneous

A miscellaneous section is bound to crop up eventually… that is to say, this list will probably evolve.

Tasks & Jobs

Tasks, jobs, and new permanent positions, posted by both the village and its residents.

When a resident is listing a task they need completed, they will have two options…

If they can afford to pay the wage for the task out-of-pocket… they will list it as a “job” in the appropriate category, then set a wage within the established range for the selected category. If it does not fit an existing category, a new one will have to be created. (see wage-setting for more details)
If, however, they cannot afford to pay the wage for the task on their own, but still feel that whoever does the task should be paid… or, if the task is time sensitive, in that it needs to be done as soon or as quickly as possible… they will be able to submit it as a “task” and assign it an appropriate priority.

Guidelines will be provided for what is considered an acceptable job/task, and what information needs to be included in the listing.

Ordering

Various ordering systems will streamline access to village services like supplies, meals, and rides.

Smart Contracts for Orders: Transactions for ordered supplies and meals will be managed via smart contracts, ensuring transparency and efficient payment handling.
Sustainability Focus: The system will include personal consumption tracking to help residents monitor their ecological footprint and promote sustainable habits.

Supplies

Residents will be able to order supplies for delivery or pick-up from the village market. Supplies may be anything from food to toiletries to art supplies.

Rides

Order a ride… Via phone, text, or through the site, residents will be able to order a ride from wherever they are -in the village- to wherever they need to go -in the village- at any time. Unless otherwise specified, a 2- or 4-passenger golf car will be used. This will be free of charge to residents and visitors.

Meals

As mentioned in “Meals and Meetings”, the option to order a delivered meal will be available for each operational kitchen. Simply log on to the respective kitchen/café/restaurant’s page and select an item from the menu.

The kitchen from which residents order their communal meals will be the only one open 24 hours a day, allowing any villager to order a full, nutritional, gmo-free meal for delivery or pick-up at any time, day or nite. (We would like for this to be a paying job for resident culinary night owls, but not one that consumes all of their time… unless they want it to.)
- So, for example, for the creator so absorbed in their work that they don’t wish to stop to prepare food… instead of grabbing an empty snack that will leave them hungry fairly soon, they’ll be able to have a proper meal delivered to their residence at any time with just a few mouse clicks. We believe a good artist is even better when they’ve eaten a proper meal.

Wish Lists

Residents will be able to post items, services, or ideas they wish to see in the village on a communal wishlist. The wishlist will be a topic of discussion at each meeting.

Voting on Wishlist Items

Wishlist items will be prioritized through village voting, ensuring collective needs and desires are addressed in a fair manner.

Crowdfunding Mechanism

For larger or costlier wishlist items, a built-in crowdfunding mechanism will allow residents to contribute Circuitree or resources toward fulfilling the item.

Additional Features

End-to-End Encryption

All communications and transactions on the intranet will be protected with end-to-end encryption, ensuring privacy and security for residents.

Anonymous Feedback System

An anonymous suggestion box will allow residents to provide candid feedback on village operations, governance, or social dynamics without fear of retaliation.

Automation for Repetitive Tasks

Repetitive tasks such as ride scheduling or simple food orders will be automated through the ordering and listings systems, reducing the need for manual input and freeing up residents’ time for creative endeavors.

The intranet will be accessible via a progressive web app (PWA) and a dedicated mobile app, ensuring ease of use on both desktop and mobile devices.
