Economy and Resources

Currency & Cryptocurrency

While the village will operate with minimal bills, we may still need to address local government requirements, such as property taxes on our land. To meet these obligations and fulfill various needs and wants not produced within the village, we will explore diverse revenue-generating activities once the community is operational.

Tasks, Jobs, & Wage-setting

Wage-setting

Wages will be determined collectively using token-based voting on pay ranges for various categories of work.

Jobs

The only difference between tasks and jobs is whether or not you’ve completed your six hours for the week. Anything in addition to the required six hours is considered a “job” and paid as such.

So while each villager will only be required to complete six hours of work in the village per week, everyone will be welcome to do more, and will be compensated for it too. However, instead of being paid by the hour, villagers will be paid per job… and each job will have its own appropriate rate (which will be set by the villagers themselves – see wage-setting for more details).

Permanent Positions

There will be endeavors that can’t be fairly paid as “jobs” or “tasks” because they’re the types of endeavors that “take as long as it takes” or, require some level of specialized knowledge. It may also be more beneficial to have only a certain number of people handling certain things (maintenance and repairs on complex machinery, for example).

In some cases, the permanent position will be the resident’s only required position (not counting inspections, that’s required for every resident). Whether or not this is the case will be decided upon during wage negotiations for the specific position.

Tasks

Each resident will be required to contribute six hours, per week, to “tasks” that aid in the continued operation of the village. These tasks could be anything from emptying the trash bins in the public and purpose buildings to being a model for a sculptor or painter. (Note: artistic and engineering tasks may require an audition, as per the posting-creator’s discretion.)

You can do all six hours in one day, or disburse them throughout the week in whatever fractions work best. Partial pay will be provided for completed hours if valid reasons are given for not completing all six hours. Neglecting to complete all six required hours (for no good reason) will result in that many more hours being required the following week, and may even result in exile in extreme cases (i.e., working for zero hours on a regular basis without good reason).

Residents will be paid 120 Circuitree (the village’s currency) per hour upon satisfactory completion of all 6 hours (each additional task completed to meet the required 6 hours, adds an additional 24 circuitree to the original hourly amount). Satisfactory completion will be determined by task inspections (see below). Neglecting to complete all six hours during the week (without good reason) will also result in no pay for those tasks until all six hours are complete.

Tasks will be sorted into various priorities based on time-sensitivity. So, for example, harvesting food will hold a fairly high -if not the highest- priority. Cleaning of public spaces and kitchens will also be priority. Further categories will be established as a group when necessary. Feel free to share your ideas in the discord server.

Task Selection

Residents will choose tasks via the intranet, ensuring equal access to available work and efficient task management.

Task Inspections

Vital tasks, if not all tasks, will receive inspection after completion. Inspection will be conducted by other villagers, in groups of three, immediately after a task is completed. Two to three groups of inspectors will be active at a time, Detailed checklists will be established for consistent evaluations, and villagers can appeal inspection results through a formal appeal process, which will be reviewed by a neutral group.
