At High Energy Sanctuary’s Experiential School, we believe education should be as unique and dynamic as the students themselves. Our Experiential School is designed to nurture curiosity, foster innovation, and empower students to explore their passions. Through a blend of self-directed learning, hands-on experiences, and a strong mentorship culture, we’re creating a model for education that goes beyond traditional classrooms.
The Educational Approach: Interest-Driven Learning
Our students begin their journey with the “Intro to Everything” class, a modular learning experience designed to introduce them to the many fields of knowledge available. This class is organized into grouped segments, allowing students to explore broad categories like arts, sciences, technology, and humanities. Students can dive deeper into any subject that catches their interest, moving seamlessly between modules as their passions evolve. They can always return to the “Intro to Everything” class whenever they’re ready to explore new areas.
From here, students are free to follow their interests, selecting relevant courses that align with their personal goals. Learning at High Energy Sanctuary is not restricted by predefined paths or time frames—it is driven entirely by the student’s curiosity and ambitions. This gives them the opportunity to explore, innovate, fail, and succeed in an environment that values the journey as much as the destination.
Balancing Autonomy and Core Skills
While students have the freedom to choose their path, we ensure they are well-equipped with essential life skills. All students take classes in reading, writing, compassion, basic survival, gardening, permaculture practices, sustainable living, and emotional intelligence, among others. These foundational subjects are taught through hands-on, problem-based learning, making even the most basic skills engaging and relevant.
To further enhance their personal development, students are encouraged to learn both a foreign language and a fictional language, broadening their cognitive abilities and creative thinking. Technology, including AI-powered resources, helps bridge gaps in subject matter expertise and makes language learning accessible to all.
Mentorships and Apprenticeships: Learning from Experience
Our educational model is grounded in human connection. We emphasize mentorships and apprenticeships, pairing students with mentors who guide them through their learning journey. Our mentor-student matching system ensures that students connect with mentors who align with their interests and learning styles, fostering strong, meaningful relationships that enrich both the student and mentor.

Students participate in courses that focus on social intelligence, self-care, food preservation, and environmental stewardship, ensuring they are prepared not just for careers, but for life. Our curriculum encourages students to become independent thinkers while recognizing the value of collaboration and community. These fairs are not just about recognition; they are about learning from one another, fostering collaboration, and building confidence. Students receive certificates of achievement, sometimes accompanied by Circuitree rewards, to honor their growth and contributions.

While we utilize cutting-edge technology, including AI and customized learning algorithms, we maintain a focus on human interaction. Technology serves as a valuable tool to enhance learning but does not replace the role of general instructors or mentors. Our school ensures students receive the best of both worlds: the efficiency of AI-driven instruction paired with the emotional intelligence of human educators.
Our general instructors—who are versatile, curious, and passionate—serve as guides for students across a broad range of subjects. These instructors benefit from regular retreats, workshops, and professional development sessions that foster a collaborative learning environment and prevent burnout.
Financial Sustainability and Accessibility
We are committed to making our education accessible. Our school operates on a sliding scale tuition, ensuring that all families, regardless of financial situation, can benefit from our programs. The school is supported by a percentage of the village’s profits, and students have access to village resources, including food, facilities, and the ever-growing library.
In addition to sliding-scale tuition, we’re actively seeking grants and external funding to ensure the long-term sustainability of the school. This approach allows us to continue providing high-quality education without compromising the rich experiences and resources we offer.
Some students are able to attend for free. Each year, we offer a limited number of spots: 3 for early-year students and 3 for students of any age. These spots are awarded based on criteria like auditions, financial need, the strength of a student’s learning proposal, or their potential to contribute to their community.
